United Way of Connecticut 2-1-1
2-1-1- is Connecticut’s free information and referral service. Simply by dialing 2-1-1, callers can reach knowledgeable, multilingual staff and get information, referrals or seek help in a crisis, including issues of substance abuse.
Newtown Youth and Family Services
Provides several services to parents and children in town. Counseling services for dealing with substance abuse are available.
Newtown Social Services
A Town of Newtown department which provides assistance, information and referral to area resources, and includes supportive counseling, advocacy, and crisis intervention.
Al-Anon and Alateen is for families and friends of alcoholics. Meetings are on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 pm at St. Rose Education Center. Other meetings can be found by calling Connecticut Al-Anon & Alateen answering service.
AA is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. Only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
NA is a non-profit fellowship of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs.
